FAQs
what are the itty bitty awards?
The Itty Bitty Awards are a celebration of the tiny things in movies that are, by some classification, brilliant in their own right.
How do you determine itty bitty categories?
Itty Bitty categories can be costume design, a well executed glance, a single shot - anything! Literally anything can become an Itty Bitty if it stands out. Once a stand-out moment (object, shot, piece of acting, practical effect, one-liner, trope…) has been identified, we then look to other examples of the same thing (if they exist) to ascertain if it’s the best one. If it is, it gets the Itty Bitty, and we’ll break down why it won in our blog.
DO itty bitty awards have to be for ‘GOOD’ MOVIEs?
Absolutely not. One of the reasons for establishing the Itty Bitty Awards was how many moments from terrible films are iconic (or simply perfectly executed) but go without recognition because the rest of the movie is, well, bad. There are so many little things we love in otherwise mediocre movies that go unsung and underappreciated. We don’t care if, overall, it’s a multi-Oscar winner or a Sundance flop. We just love the big little things.
CAN I NOMINATE something for an ITTY BITTY award?
Yes! If you see a delicious door opening, an immaculately delivered jump scare, or a scene-stealing lock of hair, you can nominate it for an Itty Bitty.
HOW DO I NOMINATE SOMETHING FOR AN ITTY BITTY AWARD?
It’s easy, but we do need details. Just go to the ‘nominate’ tab at the top of our site and fill in the form. We’d appreciate if you could name the movie, the timestamp, and what we’re meant to be appreciating. There’s also a handy file upload field so you can share a screenshot of what you’re talking about. And of course, feel free to tell us all about why you think it’s special.
